Rowan County Fiscal Court is hiring for a full-time CDL Driver within the Rowan County Road Department. This position reports to the County Road Foreman and performs skilled work involving the operation of commercial vehicles and equipment used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the county road system. Class B CDL required. Class A CDL preferred. Major Essential Duties

• Operates dump trucks, tandem trucks, pickups, snowplows, salt spreaders, and other assigned vehicles and equipment
• Hauls rock, gravel, asphalt, dirt, debris, equipment, and other materials
• Assists with road maintenance including blacktop patching, shouldering, ditching, mowing, culvert work, creek cleaning, and snow removal
• Performs routine inspections of assigned vehicles and reports needed maintenance or repairs
• Assists with general Road Department labor and equipment operation as directed
• Responds to snow, ice, storms, flooding, fallen trees, and other roadway emergencies as needed
• Follows applicable safety requirements and wears required personal protective equipment
• Performs all other duties as required by the County Road Foreman Qualifications
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License required; Class A CDL preferred
• Must maintain a satisfactory driving record and meet applicable CDL requirements
• Previous experience operating commercial trucks or heavy equipment required
• Must have sufficient physical ability to bend, stoop, climb into vehicles and equipment, and perform manual labor
• Ability to work in varied environmental conditions including heat, cold, rain, and snow
