Overview We are seeking a dedicated Yard Spotter to join our logistics and transportation team. The Yard Spotter plays a vital role in efficiently maneuvering trailers within the yard, ensuring seamless loading and unloading operations, and supporting overall fleet movement. This position requires a keen eye for safety, precise vehicle handling skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with drivers and warehouse personnel. The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining a well-organized yard environment, facilitating timely deliveries, and supporting operational excellence. Duties Safely maneuver tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other freight vehicles within the yard using manual transmission trucks. Assist delivery drivers by positioning trailers for loading and unloading activities, ensuring proper alignment and secure connections. Conduct pre- and post-shift inspections of yard equipment such as forklifts, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other machinery to ensure safety and operational readiness. Coordinate with drivers to load and unload freight efficiently while adhering to safety protocols. Support route driving activities by moving trailers between docks, storage areas, and parking zones as needed. Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and yard activities for operational tracking. Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to prevent accidents or damage during yard operations. Experience Prior experience in truck driving or commercial driving roles involving tractor-trailers is highly desirable. Familiarity with operating manual transmission trucks and various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks. Experience with load & unload procedures for freight across different trailer types. Knowledge of forklift operation is a plus for handling freight within the yard. Delivery driver experience with route driving responsibilities enhances suitability for this role. Strong understanding of safety standards related to yard operations and vehicle maneuvering. Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse staff, and management to coordinate activities efficiently.
