An Over-the-Road (OTR) Truck Driver specializes in long distance routes, often away for days or even weeks at a time. Sometimes also referred to as Long Haul drivers. Commonly paid in cents per mile driven.

Starting Wage:
$0.55 - $0.57 per mile, average 2,500 miles per week. A daily meal stipend is provided. Supplemental pay provided for customer stops. Opportunity for additional compensation for backhaul deliveries available.
Job Purpose:
The CDL Class A Truck Driver with HazMat and Tanker Endorsements position is expected to work as a valued member of the shipping and receiving operations, traveling primarily during the week and home on the weekends. This position will primarily consist of a five (5) day traveling route which is dictated by DOT Regulations. Routes vary by truck driver.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Operate vehicle safely within DOT regulations that govern safe driving, hours of service, inspection, maintenance, and transportation of hazardous materials. Drive long distances to deliver goods to customers. Travel to and from Massachusetts loading and unloading product of varying weights (see physical requirements). Follow all traffic laws and accident procedures. Operate electronic log device (ELD) correctly and if not functional, record log manually. Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations. Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Exceptional time management and problem solving skills. The ability to work long, irregular hours, and to remain focused throughout. Knowledge of federal and state laws that regulate the road freight transport industry. Ability to drive safely, irrespective of the weather and time of day. Must have the ability to read, write and understand English.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to drive in uncertain weather conditions every day. Requires employee to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and climb. Must have finger dexterity in both hands. Required vision abilities are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must frequently lift 50+ pounds and must be able to push/pull light or heavy objects in excess of 100 pounds.
Qualifications:
Must possess and maintain a valid Class A CDL License and Medical Examiners Certification. Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements required. A clean driving record, as well as sound knowledge of truck maintenance. Customer service experience a plus. Education High School/G.E.D. or equivalent preferred. Certifications Must possess and maintain a valid Class A CDL License and Medical Examiners Certification. Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements required. Screenings Meet or exceed the medical standards of the U.S. Dept. of Transportation and satisfactorily pass a drug test and, if necessary, alcohol test. Must possess a clean driving record, pending MVR check. Experience 1 year of long-haul commercial driving experience is preferred. Must have sound knowledge of truck maintenance.
