Job Description
We are seeking a Vehicle Operator (Driver), to work under the general supervision of the Transportation Manager; to join our team in Beltsville, MD; to transport the Person Served to and from their residence to appointments or events, safely and efficiently while maintaining vehicle performance and adhering to traffic laws. The Driver will work Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm. This position will require the use of navigation apps (GPS) to plan efficient routes, manage time, and proactively navigate around heavy traffic, construction, and adverse weather conditions. Duties and Responsibilities Transports the Person Served daily from one location to another, as desired, in a timely manner by practicing safe driving habits while providing exceptional, courteous, professional service. Required to be punctual with excellent time management skills, arriving at the destination on time. Required to conduct routine inspections for damage and dents; keep accurate logs of mileage; collect daily schedules; and report mechanical issues to the Transportation Manager. Maintains a clean, comfortable, and well-maintained vehicle. Ensures that the vehicle's tire are full and there is enough gas for the trip. Ensures that all safety devices are working properly (i.e., Turn Signals, Brake Lights and Headlights. etc.). Plans for efficient routes, ensuring safety and comfort of the vehicle and its passengers. Adheres to all local traffic laws, safety regulations, and road signals, while respecting other drivers on the road. Required to maintain the vehicle for safety and cleanliness, ensuring the car's seats are clean and comfortable for all passengers while ensuring that all passengers use seat belts. Requires extensive sitting and navigating heavy traffic. May require assisting passengers with special needs. Manages strict schedules. Responsible for paying for any violations they receive (i.e., Speeding Tickets, Redlight and Speed Camara Tickets, etc.) 1. Three violations will result in a suspension from work at the supervisor's discretion. 2. Driver will have to recertify by taking the Phase 3 Drivers Training Course on I-Manage. 3. Required to take a Defensive Driving Course (Annually). Qualifications High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- A valid Driver's License.
- At least 21 years of age and at least 3 years of driving experience.
- Ability to operate a vehicle for 8 hours.
