DEFINITION
Incumbent functions as a member of a crew and as such carries out a variety of tasks associated with the maintenance, repair and replacement of City property and buildings to include roads, sidewalks, curbs, and storm drains. Incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Crew Leader of the Street Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB TASKS

Installs, removes, repairs and maintains sidewalks, curbs, gutters, roads, and storm drains 2. Operates trucks of varying sizes (dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck) in a safe and efficient manner 3. Safely and efficiently operates various power and hand tools 4. Performs maintenance and replacement of storm drain inlets and pipe 5. Cuts grass 6. Trims trees 7. Repairs potholes 8. Works on the blacktop crew 9. Form and finish concrete 10. Performs trash run emptying City-owned trash receptacles 11. Performs snow removal 12. Responds to service calls in a timely manner 13. Provides exceptional customer service, especially to City residents 14. Performs other duties as assigned

 Work is performed primarily outside and, as a result, employee works in all kinds of climatic conditions  Work may expose employee to dust, dirt, smells, fumes and airborne particles and to moving mechanical machinery and the risk of electrical shock  Must wear proper protective equipment  On call 24 hours per day on a rotating schedule  May be required to work overtime as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
 Must frequently stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl  Must be capable of lifting loads up to 50 pounds and, with assistance, as much as 100 pounds  Ability to communicate orally and in writing and perform as a member of a team
Education and Experience:
 Graduation from High School or a GED equivalent  Knowledge of equipment, methods and techniques used in maintenance and repair activities; skill in operating various hand tools and small power tools  Working knowledge of data entry and basic arithmetic and the ability to record arithmetic computations accurately and quickly  Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to acquire a Class B CDL within the first twelve months of employment Company Description Havre de Grace is a city in Harford County, Maryland, situated at the mouth of the Susquehanna River and the head of the Chesapeake Bay.
