Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and dependable Community Assistant/Driver to join our team! Must have own vehicle in good working condition, clean driving record, vehicle insurance, and ability to pass criminal background check. Must be able to assist individual in wheelchair to navigate community, including lifting and storing wheelchair in vehicle during transportation to activities in the community and needed assistance with physical barriers while in the community. Hours can vary each week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Specific hours needed are:
Sundays
  • 8am to 12pm and maybe as late as 2pm; Mondays
  • 6pm to 10pm; Fridays
  • 6pm to 10pm.
Responsibilities Safely operate passenger vehicle Follow GPS navigation and adhere strictly to traffic regulations and state transportation laws to ensure safe journeys. Assist employer with boarding and alighting, and securing employer wheelchair in vehicle during trip and safely lock wheels and support wheelchair while employer enters and exit chair. Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to maintain safety standards and vehicle reliability. Assist employer navigate at community location, including but not limited to, opening doors, carrying equipment or packages, accessing entrance ramps and/or elevators, and other assistance as needed with physical barriers. Communicate effectively with employer to coordinate schedules, address concerns, and provide friendly assistance. Maintain accurate logs of trips
  • including mileage and destination.
Experience Prior experience as support staff for individuals with disabilities is a plus Knowledge of lifting safety protocols. Excellent communication skills Excellent driving record
