Launch Driver Reports to:Dockmasters Reporting Responsibilities:
None Job Summary:
Lyman-Morse Launch Drivers are responsible for the safe transportation of passengers to and from Lyman-Morse facilities. The launch driver must continually enforce safety protocols, check weather conditions, and maintain situational awareness to ensure passenger safety. In addition, the launch driver maintains a "watchful" eye regarding the status of the inner and outer harbor as well as the mooring field. Key Responsibilities The safe operation of launches and transportation of customers Monitor and effectively communicate using a VHF radio Keep USCG credentials current and carry them while working When possible, help customers locate moorings, harbor floats, etc. Provide the highest level of customer service Assist dock staff when not operating launch Keep launch clean at all times Perform safety checks of launch tender Notify Dock Master of operational issues with the launch Must be available to work weekends, evenings and holidays Maintain "situational awareness" and be a good harbor steward Report occupancy of moorings and harbor floats to Dock Master Must wear clean and neat uniforms Collect and record fees for launch rides Maintain a passenger log Other duties as assigned by theDock Master Requirements:
Required Educational Experience:
USCG Master's or Limited Master License Previous launch driving experience preferredOther Requirements:
Pass a USCG drug test and be a participant in the random drug pool Must have the ability to swim for safety reasons Computer Skills- Ability to enter time on a computer Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents, reports and memos; to compose, read and reply to e-mails. Ability to speak clearly and concisely with customers and staff. Reasoning Skills
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral or written form. Ability to deal with problems involving multiple variables in real time. Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in various units of measures, using whole numbers, fractions, pounds, metric weights, dollars, etc. Physical Demands
