Job Description

The SBU Driver Mechanic performs vehicle mechanical work beginning with basic assembly and/or removal of parts, minor repairs such as replacing fuel systems, unit connections and other components. Duties increase with time and experience on the job. Most advanced work may include fabricating experimental parts and test fixtures and working from blueprints/drawings. Other responsibilities include driving test vehicles at various speeds on varying road conditions. Weekend overtime is required for this position.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalentMinimum of 1 year of mechanical skills and knowledge of mechanical systemsBasic knowledge of mathematics, reading and writingOrganizational skillsWelding ExperienceTroubleshooting skillsAbility to use and understand computerized diagnostic equipmentAutomotive background
Preferred Qualifications:
