Second Son Freight is a new, privately held transportation company based in Dearborn, Michigan, focused on automotive, steel, aluminum, and specialized freight throughout Michigan and the Midwest. We are looking for experienced CDL-A drivers to join us from the beginning as we build the company and grow our fleet. We are family-owned and are building Second Son Freight for the long term. We already have dedicated freight in place and more business opportunities than our current trucks can handle. Drivers joining now will have the opportunity to help build something from the ground up while working with a company that places a very high value on its drivers. This position will primarily involve hauling steel and aluminum coils, automotive materials, and other heavy industrial freight. Drivers will operate brand-new, high-quality equipment, including specialized heavy-haul tractors and multi-axle trailers. Most work will be based in Metro Detroit and Michigan, with the goal of having drivers home nightly.

$92,000 starting annual salary Paid weekly Full-time W-2 employment Medical, dental, and vision benefits Paid time off and holidays Sign-on bonus opportunities Driver referral bonuses Future profit-sharing opportunities Brand-new, well-maintained equipment Home nightly Opportunity for advancement as the company grows Responsibilities include: Safely operate Class A tractor-trailer equipment Transport steel and aluminum coils and other heavy industrial freight Properly secure loads using chains, binders, coil racks, dunnage, and other required equipment Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections Follow DOT, FMCSA, Michigan weight, axle, and cargo-securement requirements Maintain accurate logs, shipping documents, and delivery paperwork Communicate closely with dispatch, customers, and plant personnel Maintain clean, safe, professional equipment Assist with loading and unloading coordination when required Preferred qualifications: Valid Class A CDL Minimum 2 years of CDL-A driving experience preferred Steel coil, flatbed, heavy-haul, or specialized freight experience strongly preferred Experience with chains, binders, tarping, and cargo securement Good driving record Ability to pass DOT physical, drug and alcohol testing, and required background/MVR reviews Dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable working around automotive and industrial facilities At Second Son Freight, drivers are not treated as an afterthought.
