Job Description
Absolutely. The original reads like a generic national trucking job and includes a lot of irrelevant language—tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, hazardous materials, OTR driving, etc. That doesn't sound like Sunshine. I'd position this as a hands-on wastewater professional who happens to drive a tanker, and emphasize that the job is part of the larger service and excavation team. That fits the Sunshine philosophy of being more than just an installer or pump truck. Septic Truck Operator Sunshine Sewer & Septic Services is a growing West Michigan wastewater service company looking for an experienced Septic Truck Operator to join our team. This is more than a driving position. Our operators work directly with customers, service septic systems, operate vacuum equipment, and work alongside our excavation and field service teams. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to the details, and is willing to jump in wherever they are needed. What You'll Do Operate and maintain a septic vacuum tanker safely and professionally Pump septic tanks and transport septage to approved disposal facilities Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain required documentation Communicate professionally with customers and provide excellent service Operate pumps, hoses, valves, and related wastewater equipment Assist with septic repairs, installations, excavation, and other field work when needed Work alongside our excavation and service technicians as part of a team Keep your truck, equipment, and work areas clean and organized Follow all DOT, state, county, and company safety requirements Complete work accurately and efficiently without sacrificing quality What We're Looking For Previous septic pumping, wastewater, vacuum tanker, or related experience Strong work ethic and dependable attendance Excellent driving record and commitment to safe operation Attention to detail and pride in workmanship Ability to work independently and as part of a team Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions Willingness to perform physical work and assist with field operations Professional communication and customer service skills Requirements CDL Class B with Tanker endorsement required Class A CDL preferred Current DOT medical card Clean driving record Septic or wastewater experience strongly preferred Why Sunshine? We are building a company where people can take pride in their work and build a career—not just show up for a job. Our team handles pumping, inspections, repairs, excavation, installations, and long-term septic system care. If you are an experienced operator who wants to be part of a growing local company and take pride in doing the job right, we want to hear from you.
