Duties Safely operate 53-foot dry van trailers across OTR routes, ensuring timely deliveries to designated locations. Handle freight with care, including load & unload procedures, ensuring cargo integrity during transit. Navigate using GPS systems to optimize routes and meet delivery schedules efficiently. Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) standards, and hazardous materials regulations when applicable. Transport various types of freight such as refrigerated goods, hazardous materials, or other specialized cargo including flatbed or tanker loads as needed. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on tractor-trailers to ensure safety and compliance. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and cargo handling records in accordance with DOT regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly. Experience Proven experience in commercial truck driving, specifically with tractor-trailers or flatbed trucks preferred. Demonstrated ability to handle logistics cargo handling and manual handling procedures safely. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, hazardous materials (Hazmat), dangerous goods, or tanker operations is a plus. Knowledge of route driving best practices for long-haul OTR routes and delivery driving efficiency. Valid CDL A license with clean driving record; experience with manual transmission trucks is advantageous. Understanding of FMCSA regulations related to trucking operations and safety standards.
