CDL-A Underground Utility Driver / Vac Operator Michigan | Full-Time | Underground Fiber Construction Nobis Technology is hiring CDL-A Underground Utility Drivers / Vac Operators to support our growing underground fiber construction operations throughout Michigan. This is NOT a driving-only position. We are looking for people who are comfortable working as part of an underground construction crew. You will haul construction equipment between jobsites, operate vacuum excavation equipment for potholing and utility exposure, assist with equipment and materials, and work alongside the crew when you are not driving. If you're looking for a job where you spend the entire day sitting in a truck, this probably isn't the right position. If you have a CDL-A and come from underground utilities, excavation, hydrovac, HDD/directional drilling, water and sewer, natural gas, paving, heavy equipment, equipment hauling or another hands-on construction trade , we want to talk to you. What You'll Do Drive CDL-A trucks and haul construction equipment to and from jobsites Pull equipment trailers carrying directional drills, excavators, vacuum equipment and other construction machinery Operate vacuum excavation equipment Pothole and safely expose existing utilities Assist underground crews with equipment, materials and jobsite setup Perform basic equipment inspections and help keep trucks, trailers and equipment maintained Work outdoors in changing weather and jobsite conditions Perform physical construction work when not driving Follow DOT, company and jobsite safety requirements Travel between projects as required What We're Looking For Valid Class A CDL Current DOT medical card Safe driving record Experience pulling equipment or heavy trailers preferred Comfortable performing physical outdoor construction work Willing and able to operate vacuum excavation equipment Dependable and willing to work as part of a production-oriented crew Underground utility or construction experience strongly preferred Experience with Vermeer or Ditch Witch directional drills, DigiTrak/Subsite locating systems, hydrovac/vacuum excavation, excavators, mini-excavators, skid steers, trenching, water/sewer, gas distribution or fiber construction is a major plus. Your Experience Won't Be Wasted This is important. Nobis is currently expanding and restructuring our Michigan underground operations. Our immediate need is for qualified CDL-A employees who can haul equipment and support our crews with vacuum excavation and potholing . But we're not looking to take an experienced driller, locator, operator or foreman and permanently turn them into a truck driver. As we build out our crews, we will evaluate your experience, performance and abilities for opportunities in drilling, locating, equipment operation, foreman and other underground construction positions.
