Overview We are seeking a reliable and skilled Local Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently within designated routes. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to handle various types of vehicles. As a Local Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining customer satisfaction. Duties Operate various types of vehicles including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, roll-off trucks, tankers, and refrigerated trailers. Navigate assigned routes efficiently while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Load and unload cargo as necessary, ensuring proper handling and securing of materials. Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure safe operation. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage and fuel usage. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential issues. Utilize manual transmission when required for specific vehicle operations. Skills Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role is preferred. Proficient in operating tractor-trailer units, flatbeds, roll-off trucks, tankers, and refrigerated trailers. Familiarity with route driving techniques and local traffic patterns. Strong understanding of manual transmission operation. Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines consistently. Strong attention to detail for maintaining accurate delivery records. Good communication skills for effective interaction with team members and customers.
