Smith Trucking, Inc. is hiring a dependable Class A CDL Shag Driver for our overnight shift in Worthington, Minnesota. This is a local position with no overnight travel. Our shag drivers transport refrigerated trailers that have been washed out and sanitized at Smith Trucking to the JBS pork processing plant, where they are staged to be loaded. This position involves frequent short trips between the two Worthington locations, along with hooking, unhooking, inspecting, and staging trailers. This position is a good fit for someone who works well independently, communicates clearly, and is comfortable working overnight.

Pay:

$23.50-$26.50 per hour, depending on experience Additional $100 weekly overnight-shift differential Overtime paid after 40 hours Overtime is common but not guaranteed

Schedule:

Overnight shift: 6:00 p.m.-4:00 a.m. Five regularly scheduled shifts per week Frequent Saturday work is required Must be available to work a sixth shift when needed Overnight shag drivers rotate weekend on-call coverage Must be available to work during the days leading up to the major holidays, as these are typically busy periods Applicants must be able to work frequent Saturdays, additional hours when needed, rotating weekend on-call coverage, and the busy days leading up to holidays.

Responsibilities:

Transport washed and sanitized refrigerated trailers from Smith Trucking to the JBS pork processing plant Safely hook, unhook, move, and stage trailers Perform required trailer checks Monitor reefer temperatures and fuel levels as needed Communicate with Smith Trucking, washout, and JBS personnel Use a small tablet mounted inside the truck Follow all company, facility, and DOT safety procedures Work outdoors in varying weather conditions Enter and exit the truck frequently throughout the shift

Qualifications:

Valid Class A CDL required Must be available to work from 6:00 p.m.-4:00 a.m. Must be available for frequent Saturday work, additional shifts when needed, rotating weekend on-call coverage, and busy periods leading up to holidays Basic ability to use a tablet or similar electronic device Dependable attendance and punctuality Ability to work safely and independently Previous commercial driving, shag driving, or yard-spotting experience required
