Job Description - Asphalt Laborer/Distributor Driver N.B. West Contracting ("West Contracting"), family-owned since 1956, combines generations of construction and materials experience with the industry's latest innovations. Job Summary:
The Asphalt Distributor Driver/Laborer is responsible for safely operating a distributor truck to apply asphalt oil and emulsions to road surfaces in preparation for paving or maintenance. This role is critical to the successful completion of paving projects and requires precision, attention to detail, and compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.Essential Job Functions:
Operate asphalt distributor truck to apply asphalt-based materials on roads, parking lots, and job sites. Prepares truck for operation by inspecting general condition, checking fluid levels and tire pressure, and reporting any maintenance issues. Load and unload asphalt oil and maintain control of spray bar and nozzles to ensure proper application thickness. Monitor gauges and flow meters to regulate the amount of material applied. Collaborate with the foreman and paving crew to ensure application meets job specifications. Maintain clean and organized truck cab and equipment. Follow all company, DOT, and safety regulations at all times. Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment issues and assist with maintenance when needed. Accurately complete daily driver logs, pre- and post-trip inspections, and other required documentation. Transport distributor truck between job sites as needed. Perform various labor tasks such as luting, cleaning, and removing excess asphalt.• Maintain clean and safe job sites, ensuring compliance with safety standards.Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of experience in the asphalt industry (required). Familiarity with Distributor Truck/"Tack Truck"). CDL Class A license with Tanker Endorsement (Required). OSHA 10 Certification and Work Zone Technician/Flagger Certification (required). Laborers Journeyman Card (required).Work location:
Highways, Private and public roadways, railways, airports.Physical Demands:
Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds sporadically throughout shift. Standing, bending, twisting, walking and stooping continuously throughout shift.Physical Requirements:

Laborers in the asphalt paving division work with and on hot mix asphalt (HMA) with temperatures ranging as high as 350 degrees. Exposed to dusty conditions as result of the construction process. Work is performed in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and coldWork Hours:
Monday through Friday and occasional weekends as needed. Overtime as needed. Day shift AND night shift. Many projects require night work only.
