Job Description
The Camden County Road & Bridge Department is seeking a truck driver to perform a variety of manual and skilled tasks in the construction and repair of county roads, bridges, and infrastructure. This position involves the operation of various trucks and equipment, maintenance duties, and general labor work. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Drive trucks of various sizes to haul rock, sand, gravel, salt, and asphalt
- Operate snow plows and occasionally run heavy equipment (e.g., rollers, pavers, mowers, loaders)
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment
- Manual labor tasks including shoveling, ditch cleaning, and spreading materials
- Cut grass, weeds, and brush along roadways
- Construct and repair concrete structures, bridge decks and asphalt roads
- Construct and install traffic and street signs
- Install and monitor traffic counters and prepare related reports
- Must be available for on-call emergency work, 24/7
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class A CDL with air brake endorsement and a clean driving record
- One year of experience operating trucks or equipment for road construction preferred
- Ability to perform strenuous outdoor labor in varying weather conditions
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Basic knowledge of vehicle/equipment operation and maintenance
- Understanding of safety procedures and regulations
