Responsibilities Safely operate commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Plan routes effectively using GPS navigation to optimize delivery schedules and fuel efficiency across OTR driving routes. Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, ensuring proper handling of logistics cargo while complying with hazardous materials regulations when applicable. Transport various types of freight such as refrigerated goods, hazardous materials (hazmat), dangerous goods, and other cargo requiring specialized handling. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks to identify maintenance needs or safety issues; document findings accurately. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and compliance with DOT regulations. Communicate proactively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status, route adjustments, or safety concerns during trips. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving with a focus on freight transportation. Knowledge of refrigerated trailer operations, hazardous materials regulations, and dangerous goods handling. Proficiency in GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time navigation adjustments. Ability to load and unload freight manually or with equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks; experience with truck loading/unloading procedures. Familiarity with FMCSA and DOT regulations governing commercial trucking operations to ensure compliance at all times. Experience in transporting automobile transportation or specialized cargo like flatbed loads or tankers is a plus.
