Immediately Job Description A Fuel Tank Driver/Mechanic I safely operates school system fuel truck, while performing entry-level mechanical maintenance, basic servicing, and minor repairs on company fleet vehicles. Key Responsibilities Driving & Delivery- Transport fuel: Drive school system fuel truck to deliver diesel to school campuses to refuel buses.
- Load and unload: operate pumps, and monitor meters to safely transfer fuel to school system buses.
- Inspect equipment: Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and tank inspections.
- Maintain logs: Keep exact records of driving hours, product measurements, and delivery paperwork. Mechanical & Maintenance Duties
- Perform servicing: Conduct basic preventive maintenance on fleet trucks (e.g., fluid changes, filter replacements, and brake checks).
- Repair support: Assist senior mechanics with troubleshooting, part replacements, and general mechanical repairs.
- Maintain fuel systems: Inspect and conduct minor repairs on facility or vehicle fuel tanks, valves, and hoses to prevent leaks. Requirements & Qualifications
Commercial License:
Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) without an automatic restriction.Endorsements:
Hazardous Materials (HazMat) and Tanker endorsements (or ability to acquire them quickly).- Mechanical aptitude: Basic knowledge of hand tools, equipment servicing, and vehicle maintenance systems.
- Physical stamina: Ability to lift heavy hoses and equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Safety compliance: Strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) and OSHA safety rules.
