Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles following FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Drive local routes efficiently, adhering to scheduled delivery times while maintaining safety protocols. Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transport. Handle logistics cargo handling tasks, including managing hazardous materials in compliance with hazardous materials regulations. Use GPS navigation systems to follow optimized routes and ensure accurate delivery locations. Transport diverse freight types such as refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tanker liquids, or automobile transportation as required. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage logs, and vehicle inspections in accordance with FMCSA regulations. Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify maintenance needs or safety issues. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to coordinate pickups and deliveries across over-the-road (OTR) driving routes within local areas. Experience Proven experience in commercial truck driving, particularly with tractor-trailers and route driving within local or regional areas. Prior delivery driving experience handling freight, including manual handling of cargo and truck loading/unloading processes. Familiarity with flatbeds and dry van transportation is highly desirable. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for truck driving. Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with clean driving record. Experience operating trucks with manual transmission preferred but not required; training available for qualified candidates.
