W.P. Davis Excavation is seeking a dependable, safety-focused CDL Driver who is ready to contribute both behind the wheel and on the jobsite. This is an active, hands-on position—not a driving-only role. The right candidate will safely transport equipment and materials while also assisting crews with excavation, sitework, and general labor whenever driving duties are complete. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced laborer with a CDL who wants the best of both worlds: professional driving and active fieldwork. Key Responsibilities Safely operate company trucks and trailers in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies. Transport equipment, materials, tools, aggregates, and other jobsite supplies. Load, secure, inspect, and unload equipment and materials. Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly. Maintain accurate driver logs, delivery tickets, inspection records, and other required documentation. Assist with equipment mobilizations and demobilizations. Remain active and productive between driving assignments. Support field crews with tasks such as: General site cleanup and housekeeping Hand digging, grading, and backfilling Installing pipe and drainage systems Setting up traffic control and work zones Moving tools, materials, and jobsite supplies Spotting equipment and assisting operators Other general excavation and sitework duties Follow all company, jobsite, OSHA, and DOT safety requirements. Communicate clearly with supervisors, operators, laborers, customers, and other drivers. Represent the company professionally on jobsites, public roads, and customer properties. Qualifications Valid CDL with the appropriate classification and endorsements for assigned vehicles. Current DOT medical card. Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspections, load securement, and safe driving practices. Construction, excavation, sitework, or heavy-equipment transportation experience is preferred. Previous general labor or underground utility experience is a plus. Ability and willingness to perform physical fieldwork throughout the workday. Dependable attendance and ability to report to work on time. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a crew. Strong awareness of jobsite and roadway hazards. Ability to pass all required pre-employment and ongoing screenings.
