Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailer trucks, including tanker and flatbed configurations, across over-the-road (OTR) and regional routes nationwide. Load and unload freight with precision, adhering to proper manual handling procedures and cargo securing protocols. Navigate using GPS systems to optimize routes while complying with all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards. Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods following hazardous materials regulations, ensuring safety at all times. Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and compliance records in line with DOT and hazardous materials regulations. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers—including refrigerated units—and cargo to ensure vehicle safety and compliance. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery schedules, or any issues encountered during transit. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsements for tanker, hazmat, and possibly refrigerated trailer operation. Proven experience in truck driving, particularly with freight involving hazardous materials or refrigerated cargo. Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, hazard communication protocols, and safety procedures. Skilled in route driving using GPS navigation systems for efficient deliveries across nationwide routes. Ability to load and unload freight manually or with equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks when necessary. Experience with truck loading/unloading procedures for freight including tanker loads, flatbeds, or other specialized trailers.
