Duties Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped for automobile transportation, including flatbed or enclosed carriers, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Load and unload vehicles manually or using appropriate equipment, ensuring proper cargo handling and securement of freight. Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems, planning optimal routes for local deliveries and pickups within designated areas. Transport vehicles across local routes, ensuring timely delivery while complying with traffic laws and safety standards. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers, checking for mechanical issues or safety hazards. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle maintenance, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate pickups and deliveries, providing updates on estimated arrival times. Qualifications Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmission preferred. Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially in automobile transportation or freight delivery. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or hazardous materials (Hazmat) is a plus but not required. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazard materials regulations, DOT compliance standards, and safe manual handling practices. Ability to operate GPS navigation systems confidently and plan efficient routes for local deliveries. Strong understanding of truck loading/unloading procedures and logistics cargo handling techniques. Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, manual handling capabilities, and route driving experience.
