Responsibilities Operate tractor-trailers and other commercial trucks to transport freight efficiently across over-the-road (OTR) routes. Safely load, unload, and secure freight using proper manual handling techniques, including truck loading and unloading procedures. Navigate using GPS systems to follow optimal routes while complying with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards. Transport various types of cargo such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or hazardous materials (hazmat), ensuring adherence to hazardous materials regulations. Conduct routine inspections of trucks and trailers to ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper functioning before and after trips. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and cargo manifests in compliance with DOT regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route updates, delivery schedules, or any issues encountered during transit. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license CDL or Regular Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tankers, or automobile transportation is preferred. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for truck driving. Ability to handle manual transmission trucks and perform manual handling tasks related to cargo loading/unloading. Strong navigation skills utilizing GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning. Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance with all traffic laws.
