Job Description

Interstate Waste Services seeks a Class B CDL Garbage Truck Driver to safely operate collection vehicles on assigned routes in the NY/NJ metro area. Responsibilities include performing pre/post-trip inspections, following DOT and company safety standards, operating hydraulic and packing systems, and collecting waste and recyclables from residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Drivers interact professionally with customers, complete route paperwork or electronic logs, report maintenance issues, and support a clean, safe work environment while contributing to reliable, sustainable waste solutions. Responsibilities Safely operate Class B CDL garbage trucks on assigned routes Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections Comply with DOT, company, and local safety regulations Operate hydraulic, lifting, and packing equipment for waste collection Collect and transport waste and recyclables from customer locations Maintain accurate route logs and required documentation Communicate professionally with residential, commercial, and industrial customers Report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly Keep truck and work areas clean and orderly Collaborate with dispatch and team members to complete daily routes Required Skills Class B CDL driving Air brake operation Defensive driving Pre- and post-trip inspections Hydraulic/packer controls Route navigation DOT compliance Basic vehicle troubleshooting Time management Customer service
