Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated Yard Driver to join our logistics team, responsible for the safe and efficient movement of freight and equipment within our yard and to various delivery points. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of commercial truck driving, cargo handling, and safety regulations. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to streamlined operations, ensuring timely deliveries and optimal utilization of our fleet. Candidates must demonstrate excellent driving skills, adherence to safety standards, and a proactive approach to logistics management. Duties Operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, within the yard and on over-the-road (OTR) routes as required. Safely load and unload freight, ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials in compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and hazardous materials regulations. Utilize GPS navigation systems to follow designated routes efficiently and accurately. Transport automobiles and other cargo using specialized equipment, maintaining vehicle security during transit. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Assist with logistics cargo handling, including loading, securing, and unloading freight in accordance with safety standards. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage logs, and vehicle maintenance reports. Follow all safety protocols related to manual handling, truck loading/unloading, and transportation of dangerous goods. Collaborate with dispatchers to optimize route planning for delivery efficiency. Ensure compliance with all applicable trucking laws, including FMCSA regulations and DOT requirements. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record. Proven experience in truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and automobile transportation equipment. Knowledge of manual transmission trucks and manual handling procedures. Experience with freight logistics cargo handling and truck loading/unloading processes. Understanding of hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat) and dangerous goods transport requirements. Ability to operate GPS navigation systems effectively for route planning. Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Strong attention to safety procedures related to truck driving and cargo handling. Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and dispatchers.
