Job Description
1st /2nd/3rd availability Overview We are seeking a dedicated Yard Driver to join our logistics team, responsible for the safe and efficient movement of freight within our yard and to designated delivery locations. The Yard Driver plays a crucial role in maintaining smooth operations by handling various types of cargo, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic transportation environment, ensuring timely deliveries and optimal cargo handling. Responsibilities Safely operate commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers with manual transmissions, within the yard and on over-the-road (OTR) routes. Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, ensuring proper securing of hazardous and non-hazardous goods in compliance with Hazardous Materials Regulations. Navigate using GPS systems to reach delivery points efficiently while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Transport refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or other specialized equipment for automobile transportation or freight delivery. Maintain accurate logs in accordance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT standards. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with safety standards. Assist with logistics cargo handling, ensuring proper load distribution and securement for safe transport. Collaborate with dispatch teams to plan routes that optimize delivery schedules and fuel efficiency. Follow all safety protocols related to hazardous materials and dangerous goods during loading, transport, and unloading processes. Support truck loading and unloading activities at the yard or customer sites, ensuring efficiency and safety. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving on route driving assignments. Knowledge of refrigerated trailer operations, flatbed handling, tanker procedures, and hazardous materials regulations. Proficiency with GPS navigation systems for route planning and navigation. Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, and hazardous materials handling procedures. Ability to operate manual transmission trucks safely and efficiently. Skilled in manual handling techniques for cargo loading/unloading while maintaining safety standards. Excellent driving record with experience in over-the-road (OTR) routes involving freight transportation. Familiarity with logistics cargo handling equipment and truck loading/unloading procedures. Good communication skills for effective coordination with team members and clients. Ability to adhere strictly to safety protocols related to dangerous goods and hazardous materials.
