Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transport Driver to join our team at Northeast Center for Rehabilitation and Brain Injury in Lake Katrine, New York. As a Transport Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting residents to medical appointments, therapy services, and other destinations, while ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. Responsibilities:
Safely operate facility vehicles requiring a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in accordance with all traffic laws and safety regulations Transport residents to medical appointments, therapy services, dialysis, hospital transfers, and community activities as scheduled Assist residents entering and exiting vehicles, including wheelchair securement and use of lifts when applicable Ensure proper use of seat belts, wheelchair restraints, and safety equipment Maintain accurate transportation logs, trip sheets, mileage records, and incident reports Communicate effectively with nursing staff regarding resident status, schedules, and delays Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of transport vehicles Follow infection control, HIPAA, and resident confidentiality policies Provide courteous and professional interaction with residents, families, and healthcare providers Respond appropriately in emergency situations and follow facility procedures
Requirements:
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements Clean driving record meeting facility insurance requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous healthcare or patient transport experience preferred Ability to operate wheelchair lifts and secure mobility devices safely CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
