Soldier On provides transportation for veterans in need within our community as well as providing transportation for other community members. Soldier On is committed to changing the story for America's homeless veteran population. Ensuring that homeless veterans and those at risk of being homeless have a roof over their head is a central part of that story, but having access to reliable transportation is just as vital. At Soldier On, driving a veteran ensures that they have the ability to easily move around their communities. Whether it's getting to an important appointment, doing the weekly grocery shopping, or something as simple as running to Walmart, we make sure they never go without having reliable transportation. Supervision Serves under the supervision of the Transportation Dispatcher and Coordinator Major Duties (essential job functions) Frequently Transports veterans in a safe, timely and reliable manner. Frequently transport meal deliveries Provides a friendly and welcoming environment to passengers during transit. Maintains a clean vehicle at all times. Provides door-to-door car service. Communicates effectively with passengers and staff. Adheres to all traffic laws and regulations. Reports any damage or inoperative equipment to the supervisor immediately. Operates electronic drivers log on tablet. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, work is often performed under variable weather conditions.

REQUIRED

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required
• Must provide current Driving Abstract (Driver will be reimbursed after 30 days of employment for any costs of obtaining Driving Abstract.) (Must provide receipt)
• Pass a CORI check
• Pass an ESORI check
• Maintain a clean driving record
• Must be medically cleared
• Pass a drug screening (including Marijuana)
• Must be available on Weekends and Holidays Physical Qualifications While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods of time in a vehicle.

They will need to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate controls; and reach with hands and arms, talk, hear and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Must be able to adjust to a flexible schedule. Mornings, evenings, and weekend work is required as job duties demand. Travel Travel could be anywhere between Albany/Menands area as needed the during the business day, although some out of the area travel may occur as needed throughout the Berkshires and the Pioneer valley, Springfield or Boston.
