Job Description

Self-loader Log Truck Driver Class A - Must have heavy hauling experience Leatherstocking Timber Products, Inc. is a locally owned and operating company looking for Class A CDL Self-loader Log Truck Driver in Oneonta New York. Responsibilities Collect and verify delivery and pickup instructions Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure its safety and report any issues or maintenance needs. Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts Load, unload and transport logs Plan routes and meet delivery schedules Maneuver logs, trucks and trailers into loading or unloading positions Report defects, accidents or violations Secure freight by hand Skills Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.) Excellent driving record with no major violations or accidents. Experience operating hydraulic knuckle boom crane and grapple required. Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations Familiarity with different types of truck equipment such as flatbeds, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, etc. Knowledge of load securement techniques and regulations. Physical stamina to handle loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road. Proven experience in operating various types of trucks, including manual transmission vehicles. Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols. Valid Class A CDL.
