•The City of Cleveland Heights is seeking a Foreman in the Refuse and Recycling Division. Under general supervision, responsibilities include but are not limited to, planning and scheduling the daily operations of the Transfer Station, seasonal scheduling of leaf, brush and grass collection to coincide with refuse collection and assisting in other areas assigned by the Supervisor. The Foreman must have previous experience working in a transfer station and must be able to operate a stationary compactor. Examples of Duties Supervises one or more Transfer Station Drivers in their daily activities; assigns daily work; monitors daily work to make sure routes are picked up in an efficient manner on time; Assists the Refuse & Recycling Supervisor in determining needs, work schedules and employee training. Inspects tools and equipment for safe condition May be assigned to perform duties of the Refuse/Recycling Supervisor when that person is absent Operates heavy equipment including a stationary Transfer Station Compactor Responds to emergencies after hours (including holidays and weekends) Must fill in as a back-up driver and/or equipment operator when needed Performs other duties as assigned Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly load records Typical Qualifications Experience in heavy equipment operation required. Supervisory experience a plus. High School diploma or equivalent Experience and knowledge in refuse and recycling collection methods Must have an Ohio Commercial Driver's License (Class A) and excellent driving record Must be in excellent physical condition and able to safely lift 90 pounds independently Must be able to work in all weather conditions Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills Must have the ability to complete and maintain precise records Must have the ability to work well with others Reliable attendance Must be able to effectively manage work scheduling Computer Proficiency is a plus Must also be available for emergencies requiring overtime hours of work and nine scheduled holiday makeup days.
