Company Issued PPE/Logistics Gear Position Overview:

The CDL B Driver is responsible for safely transporting and delivering building materials to customer delivery location(s) while providing exceptional customer service. This is a hands-on position that requires loading assistance, unloading materials, and physically handling products at delivery locations. Drivers routinely work outdoors, interact with construction sites, and are the front line for ensuring materials are delivered safely, accurately, and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

Safely operates company commercial vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies. Deliver building materials within 100 miles of our branch to various locations, for example; customer job sites or commercial construction sites using commercial vehicles (over 26,000 GVWR). Conduct a pre-trip inspection of the truck, verifying load accuracy and materials quality, and ensuring proper load securing. Handle loading, unloading, carrying and staging materials, whether by hand, cart, forklift, or crane. Identify and execute the most efficient delivery route and assess job sites with team members to avoid potential hazards. Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch/operations and logistics team members. Complete and return paperwork with signatures from customers and relay information to the dispatcher. Upon returning to the branch, preparing or loading for the next delivery (either on the same day or the next morning). Maintain vehicle cleanliness, vehicle inspection log, and report maintenance needs or concerns, as applicable. Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including DOT requirements, company policies, and customer jobsite safety standards. Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by identifying potential hazards, following established safe work practices, maintaining situational awareness, and exercising caution when working around construction activities, loading equipment, pedestrians, and vehicular traffic. Assist customers with loading in the yard and performing general warehouse/yard maintenance when required.

Qualifications:

Highschool Diploma or GED CDL License Required

•Class B preferred. CDL Temporary License holders are welcome to apply. Clean Driving Record and meets Insurabiltiy Guidelines/Requirements. Current/Active DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one. Knowledge of load capacity, CDL Truck Safety Guidelines and basic truck maintenance. Experience in Building Materials, Construction, Distribution, or Supply Industry or knowledge of drywall, insulation, framing, doors, hardware, or related construction products, a plus. Self-motivated, results-oriented professional with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Work in a variety of environments, including roadways, customer facilities, warehouses, distribution yards, and active commercial construction sites. Perform work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, humidity, and wind. Regularly lift, carry, push, pull, move, load, unload, stage, and position building materials and related products, frequently handling materials weighing up to 50 pounds independently and heavier materials with assistance or mechanical equipment. Frequently enter and exit commercial vehicles and perform physical activities including standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and other repetitive movements throughout the workday. Safely navigate loading areas, uneven surfaces, active jobsites, and changing work conditions while maintaining awareness of vehicle traffic, moving equipment, forklifts, cranes, and other construction-related machinery. Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, dispatch personnel, and logistics team members while delivering a high level of service.
