Responsibilities Safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle hauling refrigerated freight on regional and OTR routes Perform thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of tractor, trailer, and reefer unit, reporting and documenting defects as required Manage temperature-controlled freight, including setting and monitoring reefer unit temperatures and ensuring product integrity throughout transit Comply with all DOT regulations, hours-of-service rules, and company safety policies, maintaining accurate electronic logs and required documentation Plan routes and manage time effectively to ensure on-time pick-ups and deliveries while maximizing legal driving hours Communicate regularly and professionally with dispatch, operations, and customers regarding load status, delays, and any issues affecting service Handle basic equipment troubleshooting on the road (e.g., minor reefer adjustments, simple securement checks) and coordinate repairs as needed Maintain a clean, professional vehicle and represent K&B Transportation positively with customers and the motoring public Adhere to company policies on fuel, safety, load securement, and accident reporting, participating in ongoing safety and compliance training as required Required Skills Class A commercial vehicle operation Refrigerated (reefer) freight handling and temperature control FMCSA and DOT safety and hours-of-service (HOS) compliance Electronic logging device (ELD) use and log management Trip planning and time management Vehicle inspection and basic on-road troubleshooting Defensive driving and safe driving techniques Customer service and professional communication with dispatch and shippers/receivers Basic cargo securement for refrigerated freight Map reading and GPS routing for regional and OTR operations
