Job Description
Job Summary:
The Activities/Transport Driver is responsible for enriching the lives of our residents by planning and facilitating engaging activities while ensuring safe and reliable transportation to appointments, outings, and events. This dual role focuses on fostering variety, spontaneity, and socialization for residents while upholding safety and professionalism in transportation. The position works under the supervision of the Activities Director/Social Services Director and involves collaboration with staff and volunteers to create meaningful experiences for residents.Key Responsibilities:
Activities Coordination:
- Plan and implement daily, weekly, and monthly activities and events to promote socialization, recreation, and relaxation.
- Design programs accommodating residents with special needs, ensuring inclusivity and engagement.
- Handle event logistics, including advertising, managing inventory and budgets, coordinating transportation, and supervising volunteers.
- Collect feedback from residents to improve the quality and variety of activities.
- Keep accurate records of event planning resources, participant interests, and other notable observations (e.g., injuries or behavioral incidents).
- Report medical or behavioral concerns observed during activities to appropriate personnel.
- Ensure events are properly staffed, provisioned, and conducted within budget and on schedule.
Transportation Duties:
- Safely transport residents to and from medical appointments, activities, and shopping errands.
- Review and adhere to the transportation schedule to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety issues to the Administrator.
- Adhere to safety protocols, ensuring proper loading, unloading, and secure transportation of residents.
- Assist residents with mobility devices and operate the van lift safely and efficiently.
- Familiarize and adhere to emergency procedures, including fire and disaster protocols.
Qualifications:
Licensure:
Must hold a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.Behavior and Attitude:
Demonstrates a mature, pleasant, and supportive demeanor in all interactions with residents, staff, and visitors.Physical Requirements:
- Capable of lifting up to 80 pounds and providing physical assistance to residents.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and lift for extended periods.
- Possesses adequate sight and hearing, with or without prosthesis, to perform duties safely.
