Job Description
Who We're Looking For:
Cascadia Metals is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious CDL-A Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will have a valid CDL-A license, a strong safety record, and excellent customer service skills. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to DOT regulations, including drug and alcohol testing.What You'll Be Doing:
- Operate heavy commercial trucks to deliver steel products promptly and courteously.
- Ensure compliance with all Company, State of Washington, and Federal (FMCSA) regulations .
- Maintain accurate daily trip logs, mileage, and route documentation.
- Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections ; promptly report mechanical or safety issues.
- Safely load, secure, and tarp steel products in accordance with company and DOT standards.
- Maintain and manage equipment (tarps, chains, racks), recommending replacements as needed.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs with the maintenance team.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding delivery updates and any equipment or customer issues.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) .
- Valid DOT medical examiner's certificate (or ability to obtain).
- Minimum 3 years of verifiable commercial driving experience (flatbed preferred).
- Clean driving record (MVR check required).
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including loading/unloading and securing loads, with or without reasonable accommodation .
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of proper load blocking, bracing, and securement techniques.
- Ability to work independently and manage schedules efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience hauling steel or other heavy industrial products.
Physical & Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly and occasionally more, with or without reasonable accommodation .
- Must have acute hearing and strong vision for safe vehicle operation.
- This is a safety-sensitive position subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations.
