Join the Wright-Knox Motor Lines family as a Trainee Over-the-Road (OTR) Truck Driver! We're a family-owned and operated company committed to providing safe and reliable transportation services across the 48 contiguous states. As a trainee, you'll receive comprehensive training to develop the skills necessary to excel in the trucking industry while enjoying a supportive, family-oriented work environment. You will be trained to haul general freight and will learn the Wright-Knox way of doing business.
Key Responsibilities:
Safe and Efficient Driving (Training): Participate in our structured training program, learning safe driving techniques with both manual and automatic transmissions. Master pre- and post-trip inspections, adhering to DOT and Wright-Knox safety standards. Learn to operate company equipment safely and efficiently. Hauling Freight (Training): Learn to pick up and deliver general freight on time, within the Wright-Knox operational area. Develop skills in managing appointments and adapting to changing circumstances. Practice proper load securement and weight distribution. Vehicle Maintenance (Training): Conduct thorough inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly. Learn basic vehicle maintenance procedures. Documentation and Communication (Training): Maintain accurate logs, trip reports, and expense records, using company-provided systems. Develop effective communication with dispatch and customers. Learn to use ELDs and other relevant technology. Dispatch Communication (Training): Maintain consistent communication with dispatch, providing updates on location and delivery status. Follow dispatch instructions and provide feedback. Customer Service (Training): Represent Wright-Knox with professionalism and courtesy, building positive relationships with customers. Compliance (Training): Adhere to all DOT regulations and Wright-Knox safety policies. Trip Planning (Training): Learn to plan efficient routes, maximizing fuel economy and on-time delivery. Learn to make safe decisions regarding driving conditions.
Qualifications:
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one. Clean driving record, meeting insurance requirements. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Strong work ethic and a commitment to safety. Willingness to learn and adapt.
Working Conditions:
OTR driving across the contiguous 48 states, with a focus on the Midwest, East Coast, and Southeast. Irregular hours, including nights and weekends. Exposure to various weather conditions. Additional Details
