Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc. is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Scrap Yard employee to join our team in Bridgeville, PA. This position is responsible for receiving, organizing, weighing, recording, and preparing scrap materials used in Melt Shop operations.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working around heavy equipment, and able to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The scrap yard utility position supports the Melt Shop operations by receiving and recording incoming materials, maintaining accurate inventory levels, preparing scrap charges, and coordinating material movement throughout the scrap yard.
The position requires basic math skills, strong organization, attention to details, and the ability to safely work around trucks, cranes, scrap metal, and other heavy equipment.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive and record incoming Melt Shop materialsMaintain accurate inventory records for Melt Shop materialsWeight specified amounts of scrap metalLoad scrap metal into charging bucketsReceive, record, and store materials in the appropriate locationsDirect Melt Shop material truck trafficDirect and coordinate activities of the Scrap Yard craneMaintain organized material storage areasUse hooks, slings, magnets, claws, charging buckets, and scale transfer equipmentFollow established safety and material-handling proceduresCommunicate material or operational concerns to supervisorMaintain a clean and safe work areaPerform other duties as assigned
SAFETY-SENSITIVE
POSITIONThis is a safety-sensitive position in a heavy industrial environment. Employees work around scrap metal, trucks, cranes, and charging equipment, and other heavy machinery.
Employees are required to follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, and maintain constant awareness of equipment and vehicle movement.

SCHEDULE
12-hour rotating shifts: 6:00AM-6:00PM/ 6:00PM-6:00AMScrap Yard employees rotate between day and night shifts approximately every two weeksThere are no permanent assigned day or night shiftsWeekend and holiday work may be requiredOvertime may be required based on operational needs

TRAINING AND GROWTH
