Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers and other commercial trucks on over-the-road routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transit. Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel consumption. Transport various types of cargo, including refrigerated items, hazardous materials (Hazmat), flatbed loads, tankers, and automobile transportation. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo documentation in compliance with legal requirements. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, or any issues encountered on the road. Experience Proven experience in commercial truck driving, particularly with over-the-road (OTR) routes involving long-distance travel. Familiarity with handling different types of freight such as freight containers, hazardous materials, refrigerated goods, flatbeds, or tankers. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the cargo being transported; preferred certifications include Hazmat and Tanker endorsements. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazard materials regulations, DOT rules, and safety protocols related to truck driving and cargo handling. Experience with manual transmission trucks is preferred but not mandatory; training can be provided for qualified candidates. Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely during load & unload operations while adhering to safety standards. Strong navigation skills using GPS systems to follow designated routes accurately while managing route driving challenges efficiently.
