DRIVER - BULK SHAVINGS
Transportation & Shavings Operations Job Summary The Driver - Bulk Shavings is responsible for safely transporting bulk wood shavings from the Circle S Ranch shavings plant to customer locations and company facilities. This position ensures all deliveries are completed on schedule, accurately documented, and performed in compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards. The driver plays an essential role in maintaining positive relationships with customers through professional communication and safe, courteous operation of company vehicles. Reporting Relationships Reports directly to the Transportation Supervisor or Bulk Production Manager. Works closely with Dispatch, Maintenance, and Shavings Plant personnel. No direct reports. Personal Commitments Commitment to safety, professionalism, and reliability. Dedication to representing Circle S Ranch in a positive and courteous manner. Attention to detail in route planning, load handling, and documentation. Willingness to maintain a clean vehicle and comply with all transportation and biosecurity procedures. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Driving & Delivery Operations Transport bulk shavings safely and efficiently to customer farms, growers, or company locations. Inspect trailers before and after loading to ensure they are clean, safe, and suitable for product transport. Secure and cover loads properly to prevent spillage or contamination. Follow all assigned routes and schedules as directed by Dispatch or Management. Verify delivery accuracy by confirming location, quantity, and type of product delivered. Complete all delivery documentation, including tickets, logs, and inspection forms. Safety & Compliance Operate vehicles in compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and Circle S Ranch safety regulations. Perform and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily. Report maintenance issues or safety concerns immediately to the Transportation Supervisor. Maintain compliance with hours-of-service (HOS) and electronic logging device (ELD) requirements. Follow PPE requirements and facility safety rules at all loading and unloading sites. Adhere to company biosecurity and cleanliness procedures between deliveries. Vehicle Care & Maintenance Maintain assigned truck and trailer in clean and operational condition. Coordinate with the maintenance department for routine servicing or repairs. Monitor fuel usage and report mileage and maintenance logs as required. Ensure that truck equipment (tarps, hoses, PTO systems, etc.) is in proper working condition. Customer Service & Communication Represent Circle S Ranch professionally during all customer interactions. Communicate clearly with Dispatch, Production, and Customers regarding delivery times or issues. Report delays, route changes, or site access problems promptly. Assist customers in resolving minor on-site concerns safely and respectfully. Skills, Education, and Experience High school diploma or GED required. Valid CDL Class A driver's license with a clean driving record required. Minimum of 2 years of CDL driving experience preferred, agricultural hauling experience a plus. Working knowledge of DOT safety and HOS regulations. Ability to operate bulk trailers, walking floors, or similar hauling equipment. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Commitment to safety, timeliness, and customer satisfaction. Must be willing to work variable hours, weekends, and holidays as needed. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Requires sitting for extended periods while operating a vehicle. Must be able to climb ladders, open trailer doors, and handle hoses and tarps safely. Ability to work in outdoor environments with exposure to dust, heat, and cold.
