Job Description
Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Local Flatbed Driver and take charge of delivering freight efficiently and safely within your local area. This role offers an exciting opportunity to operate flatbed trucks, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. As a key player in our logistics network, you'll enjoy the independence of route driving combined with the satisfaction of providing exceptional service to our customers. Your expertise in commercial truck driving, cargo handling, and safety regulations will drive success every day. Duties Safely operate flatbed trucks to transport freight across designated local routes, ensuring on-time deliveries. Navigate using GPS systems to follow optimized routes while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Handle specialized freight, including hazardous materials and dangerous goods, following all hazardous materials regulations. Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after trips, maintaining compliance with safety protocols for tractor-trailers and flatbed trucks. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, or issues encountered during routes. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record. Proven experience in truck driving, particularly with flatbed trailers or similar equipment. Knowledge of load & unload procedures, truck loading and unloading techniques, and logistics cargo handling. Familiarity with route driving, over-the-road (OTR) routes, and local delivery operations. Ability to handle hazardous materials and dangerous goods following all safety regulations. Experience operating manual transmission trucks preferred; must be comfortable with manual handling tasks. Strong understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA rules, and hazardous materials regulations applicable to commercial trucking. Excellent driving skills combined with a focus on safety and compliance at all times. Physical ability to load/unload freight manually as needed; must meet physical requirements for the role.
