(Department of Transportation) regulations Manual transmission Time management Full Job Description Backhaus Excavation and Underground is looking for a dependable, experienced Seasonal Truck Driver to join our team. This position is responsible for transporting materials and equipment to and from our local jobsites. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, excellent driving skills, and experience operating trucks in a construction environment. A Class B CDL is required and may have an automatic transmission restriction. A Class A CDL is highly preferred and must be able to operate a manual transmission. Experience with side dumps and lowboy/equipment hauling is highly preferred. This is a seasonal position expected to run through November 1, with the possibility of work continuing through the end of the year depending on weather, workload, and company needs. There may also be an opportunity to return the following spring for the next construction season. Pay is based on experience. Responsibilities Safely operate company trucks, including dump trucks, tractor-trailers, and other commercial vehicles Haul dirt, gravel, aggregate, pipe, equipment, and other construction materials Operate side dump trailers as needed Haul equipment using a lowboy trailer when properly licensed and qualified Transport materials and equipment to and from jobsites safely and efficiently Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections Ensure loads are properly secured and transported safely Follow all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety procedures Maintain accurate records of loads, mileage, fuel usage, and other required information Communicate with jobsite foremen and other team members regarding material needs, deliveries, schedules, and any issues that arise Keep assigned trucks clean and report maintenance or repair needs Assist with loading and unloading materials when needed Help with general jobsite duties when trucking needs are limited Work as part of the team to keep projects moving safely and efficiently What We're Looking For Valid Class B CDL required - automatic restriction is acceptable Class A CDL highly preferred - must be able to operate a manual transmission Clean and acceptable driving record Construction hauling experience preferred Experience with dump trucks and tractor-trailers Side dump experience highly preferred Lowboy/equipment hauling experience highly preferred Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe commercial driving practices Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety Dependable and punctual Excellent time-management skills Positive attitude and strong work ethic Ability to communicate and work well with foremen, operators, and other crew members Ability to safely navigate active construction jobsites and changing jobsite conditions Willingness to jump in and help the crew when needed Physically capable of performing the essential duties of the position, including climbing in and out of trucks and equipment, securing loads, lifting and carrying materials, bending, and working on your feet as needed Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions Benefits & Perks Competitive pay based on experience Company-paid employee outings and team events Local work Monday-Friday schedule No regularly scheduled weekends Overtime opportunities Potential for work through the end of the year Opportunity to return the following spring Opportunity for growth within the company Why Backhaus?
