The purpose of his position is the movement of freight efficiently, professionally and safely within the time frame allotted. Safely delivering loads at the specified delivery time - may occasionally include Saturday and evening deliveries. Compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, local speed and traffic laws. Treating customers and other motorist with courtesy. Communication with Central Dispatch for loading and any problems that you incur. Must work outdoors in all weather. Pre/Ongoing/Post-trip inspections as required and as necessary. Inventorying of freight at receivers to validate bill of lading, getting required signature for accepted goods. Ensures that CCC quality standards are met with every piece produced. Ensures that product safety and personal safety procedures are followed in all aspects of CCC operations. Work Experience requirements Minimum age of 25. Minimum of 1 year and 100,000 mile of verifiable tractor-trailer (5th wheel) experience in all weather. Stable work history. No DUI or reckless driving convictions, no positive controlled substances tests or felony convictions. No more than three moving violations, or combination of one highway "at fault" accident and tow citations within the past three years. "At fault" accidents or citations in both personal and commercial vehicles are included. A truck driver must be able to perform the following task: check brakes, oil, tires and electrical systems; drive defensively and handle hazardous road conditions; load goods onto the truck either by hand or by lifting equipment; calculate and estimate the weight of loads to comply with load limits, couple and uncouple trailers, change heavy tires and clean and maintain vehicles; check items against inventory. Education requirements Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL Class A) in state of residence. Must be able to pass DOT physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance test with a negative result.
