We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Weekday Shift Hostler / Yard Dog to move trailers and equipment safely and efficiently throughout our yard and loading areas. The ideal candidate will have strong driving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Can communicate satisfactorily in English. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Basic math skills (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, etc.) Takes pride in work with attention to detail Can take direction - driven to complete assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency
Qualifications:
Applicant must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for this position. Applicant must pass a drug test and background check during the pre-employment process. Previous Forklift Experience and Certification preferred. Safely operate a yard truck/hostler to move trailers between dock doors, staging areas, and yard locations. Spot trailers accurately at designated dock doors. Hook and unhook trailers as needed. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard equipment. Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and yard activity. Communicate with dispatch, warehouse personnel, and management regarding trailer locations and priorities. Ensure trailers are properly secured and positioned. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard. Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and yard procedures. Report equipment issues, trailer damage, or safety concerns promptly. Assist with other yard and warehouse duties as needed. Qualifications Valid driver's license. Previous hostler, yard driver, or tractor-trailer experience preferred. Ability to safely maneuver trailers in tight spaces. Strong communication and organizational skills. Dependable attendance and strong work ethic. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience operating a hostler/yard truck. Experience in trucking, logistics, warehousing, or distribution. Familiarity with trailer tracking and yard management procedures. Physical Requirements Ability to climb in and out of trucks and trailers. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach as required. Ability to perform equipment inspections and connect/disconnect trailer equipment. Ability to work safely around moving vehicles and heavy equipment. Why Join Us?
