Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) A Flatbed Truck Driver and take on an exciting role that combines skilled driving with essential logistics operations. In this position, you will be responsible for safely transporting freight across various routes, including over-the-road (OTR) journeys, utilizing flatbed trailers to deliver a wide range of cargo. Your expertise in truck driving, route planning, and cargo handling will ensure timely deliveries while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. Duties Operate tractor-trailer trucks with flatbed configurations to transport freight across regional and national routes, including OTR driving routes. Securely load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, ensuring proper cargo restraint on flatbeds and tanker trailers when applicable. Navigate using GPS systems to follow optimized routes while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to identify maintenance needs or safety issues, maintaining compliance with DOT regulations. Load and unload freight efficiently, managing logistics cargo handling processes to ensure accurate delivery of refrigerated trailers, automobile transportation, or other specialized cargo. Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to confirm delivery schedules and resolve any route or cargo issues promptly. Qualifications Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record, demonstrating expertise in commercial truck driving and route driving. Proven experience operating flatbed trucks, tanker trailers, or refrigerated trailers in a safe and efficient manner. Knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, including manual handling of freight and securing loads on flatbeds. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time tracking during deliveries. Experience with manual transmission trucks preferred; strong understanding of truck driving safety protocols under FMCSA and DOT regulations. Excellent physical stamina for manual handling tasks involved in load & unload activities; capable of lifting heavy freight when necessary. Strong adherence to safety standards related to dangerous goods, freight security, and vehicle operation in compliance with federal trucking laws.
