Summary Assists upper-level truck drivers while learning load security, truck maintenance and how to drive truck and trailer combinations to transport pipes, equipment and miscellaneous objects by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Provides daily assistance to upper level truck drivers with load securements, ground guiding and truck and trailer maintenance. 2. Reviews and consistently adheres to company standard operation procedures and safety guidelines to ensure performance standards are met. 3. Learns to operate flat bed and low boy trailers and continually improves upon learned skills. 4. Studies compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) logs, Job Safety Analysis forms (JSAs), and pre-trip/post-trip procedures and works towards remaining in compliance. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience One year certificate from college or technical school and no experience required. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills N/A Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Class A commercial driver's license with no restrictions. Valid Department of Transportation medical examiner's certificate. Motor vehicle record (MVR) reflecting no convictions for recurring or serious violations or accidents. Hazardous Materials Endorsement and Tank Vehicle Endorsement in process. Other Skills and Abilities Ability to work in a fast paced, team environment. Good interpersonal skills.
