Job Description
Safeway Supply is looking for a dependable, customer-focused Delivery Driver to serve customers throughout the local area. A successful driver will safely and efficiently complete assigned routes, deliver the correct products to the correct locations, communicate effectively with customers and our team, and take good care of the vehicle and equipment assigned to them. The schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Responsibilities Safely and independently complete assigned local delivery routes. Deliver orders accurately and on schedule while keeping the team informed of delays, delivery issues, or route changes. Verify that the correct products and quantities are delivered to the correct customer locations. Provide professional and courteous service at every customer location. Safely load, secure, transport, unload, and place products in designated receiving or storage areas when required. Obtain required delivery documentation and signatures and accurately complete assigned delivery records. Perform required vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns. Follow company safety procedures, traffic laws, DOT requirements, and customer site requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional company vehicle. Handle unexpected situations—such as traffic delays, delivery restrictions, customer requests, or route changes—professionally and with good judgment. Work effectively with warehouse, customer service, and operations personnel to ensure customers receive dependable service. Typical Day You will begin your day at our Round Rock facility, inspect your vehicle, assist with preparing and verifying your route, load truck and make deliveries to businesses throughout the local area. Deliveries may include cartons, cases, and palletized products and may require the use of pallet jacks, liftgates, carts, or other material-handling equipment. Some customers may require products to be delivered beyond the receiving dock and placed in designated storage areas. At the end of the route, you will return to the facility, complete required paperwork and vehicle procedures, and communicate any customer, delivery, or vehicle issues that need follow-up. Requirements A valid driver's license and driving record that meets company requirements. The ability to safely operate a commercial delivery vehicle. The physical ability to repeatedly handle and move products throughout the workday. The ability to safely use delivery equipment such as pallet jacks, carts, and liftgates. Good communication, organization, and time-management skills. The ability to follow established procedures while using good judgment when unexpected situations arise. A dependable work history and demonstrated ability to work independently. Previous commercial delivery experience is preferred, but we are also interested in candidates who can demonstrate a strong record of reliability, safe vehicle operation, customer service, and physically demanding work.
