Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers on OTR routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Drive a variety of trailers including refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, and hazardous materials (Hazmat) loads across nationwide routes. Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or truck loading equipment while maintaining safety protocols. Use GPS navigation systems to follow optimized routes for efficient delivery schedules and timely arrivals. Transport automobile transportation or other specialty cargo with precision and care. Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety and readiness; report any issues promptly. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and cargo documentation in compliance with FMCSA regulations. Collaborate with dispatch teams to coordinate route planning, delivery schedules, and cargo handling requirements. Ensure proper handling of dangerous goods or hazardous materials according to hazardous materials regulations. Skills Valid CDL A license with clean driving record and recent experience in commercial truck driving. Proficiency in operating manual transmission trucks and tractor-trailers for route driving. Strong knowledge of logistics cargo handling, load & unload procedures, and freight management. Experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or hazardous materials transport preferred. Familiarity with GPS navigation tools for route planning and navigation accuracy. Understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT regulations, and hazardous materials regulations. Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, manual handling techniques, and vehicle maintenance awareness.
