Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our transportation team. Duties Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vans in accordance with all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations Assist passengers with wheelchair assistance, boarding, and disembarking, ensuring comfort and safety for individuals with mobility challenges Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and first aid protocols when necessary Maintain clear communication with dispatchers and passengers using effective English language skills; utilize multilingual abilities when applicable to serve diverse communities Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle condition, including checking vehicle codes, lights, brakes, and safety equipment before each route Respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected delays by adjusting routes or schedules while keeping passengers informed Uphold passenger safety by enforcing behavior management policies and ensuring compliance with school policy knowledge and student discipline standards Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for bus driving and passenger transport Proven experience working with children or senior care populations preferred; ability to manage behavior effectively in a school or transit environment Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, heavy lifting techniques, and emergency stop procedures Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse communities Demonstrated understanding of transportation safety regulations including child safety policies and child care standards Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy objects safely when needed for vehicle maintenance or passenger assistance Excellent driving record with a focus on defensive driving techniques and quick response to traffic changes Familiarity with school bus driving, transit bus operation, student discipline policies, and behavior management strategies is highly desirable Join us in delivering reliable transportation services that make a difference every day!
