Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers, flatbeds, on over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Plan routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery schedules and fuel efficiency. Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, handling logistics cargo with care for hazardous materials or dangerous goods when applicable. Transport freight shipments securely across long-distance routes while maintaining proper documentation for each delivery. Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure truck safety and compliance with hazardous materials regulations. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance in accordance with FMCSA regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery status, or any issues encountered during transit. Qualifications Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record. Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving. Familiarity with tractor trailers and flatbeds regulations. Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently. Knowledge of GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient OTR driving routes. Experience in truck loading/unloading, manual handling of cargo, and logistics cargo handling procedures. Understanding of DOT regulations related to hours of service, load securement, and safety standards. Strong driving skills with a focus on safety and compliance; previous experience with hazardous goods is a plus.
