Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and dependable CDL A Driver to join a logistics team in Franklin, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers to transport freight across various routes, including over-the-road (OTR) driving routes, with a focus on delivering goods efficiently and in compliance with all federal and state regulations. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to handle diverse cargo types such as refrigerated goods, hazardous materials, flatbed loads, or tanker shipments. The CDL A Driver plays a vital role in ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. Duties Operate tractor-trailers equipped for refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or other specialized cargo according to route requirements. Safely navigate using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries across assigned routes. Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, adhering to proper cargo handling procedures. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and compliance documentation. Deliver freight efficiently while adhering to scheduled routes and delivery windows. Ensure proper handling of hazardous materials in compliance with hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery status, or any issues encountered during transit. Follow all safety protocols related to manual handling, truck loading/unloading, and transportation of sensitive cargo. Perform routine maintenance checks on the vehicle and report any mechanical issues promptly. Requirements Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record. Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tankers, and automobile transportation is preferred. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards. Experience operating manual transmission trucks is highly desirable. Ability to handle logistics cargo efficiently while ensuring load security and proper documentation. Strong understanding of GPS navigation systems and route planning for over-the-road (OTR) routes. Excellent manual handling skills for loading/unloading freight safely. Prior experience with freight transportation involving dangerous goods or hazardous materials is a plus. Good communication skills and the ability to work independently under tight schedules.
