We are hiring a refrigerated straight-truck driver (or owner-operator) for a dedicated weekly route supporting U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers. This is a steady, predictable local/regional run — not over-the-road. You will pick up cook-chill food at the Hampton VA Medical Center each Monday and deliver to eight VA facilities across Virginia and North Carolina, completing all deliveries within three working days (Monday-Wednesday), with two overnights, and returning to Hampton.

Route:

Hampton → Williamsburg → Chesapeake → Piedmont (Burkeville) → Salem → Asheville → Salisbury → Durham → Fayetteville → return to Hampton (~1,100 miles/week).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Pick up palletized cook-chill food at Hampton VAMC (loads ready 8:00 AM Monday) Maintain 28-32°F cold-chain throughout the multi-day route Deliver within each site's scheduled window (site hours 5:00 AM-3:30 PM, Mon-Fri) Operate an electric pallet jack to load/unload Stage the truck overnight on 220V shore power where available Return empty pallets and bins to Hampton Keep the truck clean and sanitized to USDA food-safety standards Maintain professional conduct in VA medical/food-service environments

REQUIREMENTS

Valid driver's license with clean driving record (CDL Class B may be required depending on vehicle weight rating) Comfortable with multi-day routes and overnight stays Able to pass VA facility access screening Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented on delivery documentation Refrigerated (reefer) or food-grade transport experience preferred

OWNER-OPERATORS

Must provide a refrigerated straight truck (18-26 ft box) with 28-32°F capability, 220V electric standby, and temperature monitoring. No lift gate required. Company equipment is available for company drivers.
